Spartan M.D.s graduate this Saturday

On Saturday, May 16, 2015, the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine will graduate 181 new Spartan M.D.s at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center in East Lansing.

Dean Marsha D. Rappley will confer degrees for the graduating class, raising the total alumni to more than 4,500 Spartan M.D.s during the medical school’s 51-year history. Also this year, a record nine military graduates will receive their commissions from the U.S. Air Force, Army and Navy.

Keynote speaker will be College of Human Medicine alumnae Carmen M. Green, associate vice president and associate dean for health equity and inclusion for the University of Michigan Health System.

Green is a tenured professor of anesthesiology, obstetrics and gynecology, an attending physician in the Back and Pain Care Center, and a principal investigator for the Michigan Pain Outcomes Study Team.

The Class of 2015 will reunite on MSU's main campus for the commencement ceremony after having spent their third- and fourth-years of medical school in hospitals and clinics at the college’s community campuses located in Lansing, Grand Rapids, Flint, Midland Regional, Traverse City and the Upper Peninsula Region.
