Sexual Assault Program marks 35 years

The Michigan State University Counseling Center Sexual Assault Program is celebrating 35 years of service on April 2 in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

The program also will present the annual Teal Ribbon Award, an international symbol for sexual assault awareness, to the College of Communication Arts & Sciences. The college has provided outstanding leadership in promoting education of sexual violence.

The program begins at 6 p.m. at MSU's Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum, 547 E Circle Drive, East Lansing.

President Lou Anna K. Simon will offer introductory remarks at the event, followed by a discussion with Laura Swanson, student-producer of Every Two Minutes, a documentary to raise awareness of sexual assault featuring a diverse group of survivors including former state Sen. Gretchen Whitmer. A discussion will be held after the screening.

A Backstage Pass fundraiser will be held prior to the public event and film. Ticketing information can be found on the Sexual Assault Program’s website at endrape.msu.edu.
