Retired facilities manager recognized for distinguished career

Retired MSU Infrastructure Planning and Facilities executive manager Ron Flinn was honored with the Association of Physical Plant Administrators 2015 Distinguished Leadership and Ethics award. Flinn recently retired after 54 years at MSU.

“Ron was an active member for more than 50 years in the Michigan APPA chapter, the Midwest region and International APPA, serving as its President in 1997,” said APPA President Peter Strazdas. “Ron immediately recognized that connecting the membership’s needs and issues with the strategic vision and direction for APPA would ensure we remain the association of choice for all education institutions.”

The criteria for selection for the Distinguished Leadership and Ethics Award includes significant life-long contributions to the profession, demonstrated principles of ethical leadership and ambassador for the profession.

Flinn also has been recognized in the past for his contributions to APPA and the industry of educational facilities management, having received both the President’s and Meritorious Service awards from APPA.
