Music students to put on Nepal benefit concert

Students from the Michigan State University College of Music will perform a classical music concert at 4 p.m. May 10 at People’s Church in East Lansing.

All proceeds from the concert will be donated toward a relief fund through the American Red Cross for victims of the April 25 earthquake in Nepal. The suggested donation is $10.

Students, from undergraduates to doctoral candidates, both singers and instrumentalists alike, will be performing a program of music while also providing facts about the earthquake and ways people in which the community can help.

“Though Nepal is halfway around the globe, we as a student community will do all that we can to make sure we are there to help them recover and rebuild from this horrible tragedy,” said College of Music student Chelsea Cowan. “We ask the community to stand with us and spend the afternoon celebrating music while helping a fellow community stand back on their feet as well.”
