MSU College of Human Medicine cycling event rolls into sixth spot in top U.S. Gran Fondos

The Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Gran Fondo was recently named one of the “biggest and best” American Gran Fondos of 2015 by Gran Fondo Guide. The MSU Gran Fondo ranks sixth among 11 mass-participation events featured by the cycling news website.

“Entering its third year, the MSU Gran Fondo has quickly joined the ranks of top national Gran Fondos, many that are considered some of the premiere cycling events in the world,” said Robert Hughes, president of Advantage Benefits Group, a founding sponsor of the MSU Gran Fondo, and executive committee member.

Other prominent mass-participation cycling events on Gran Fondo Guide’s list include Gran Fondo New York, Levi Leipheimer’s King Ridge Gran Fondo (Santa Rosa, California), Hincapie Gran Fondo (Greenville, South Carolina) and Tour of Battenkill Gran Fondo (Cambridge, New York).

The MSU Gran Fondo is a fun, non-competitive cycling event hosted by MSU's College of Human Medicine to support skin cancer awareness, prevention and research. Cyclists of all skill levels can join as individuals or teams and ride along scenic 12, 25, 40 or 80-mile routes from downtown Grand Rapids to Lake Michigan. Riders enjoy gourmet food stops along the route and celebrate at the Finish Line Festival with live music, craft brews and a grand feast.
