Improve your birding skills this spring at the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary

The 8th annual Field Ornithology Course will be held this spring at the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary.

The world of birds has so much depth that birders of all skill levels will learn something. The Tuesday evening lectures and Saturday morning field trips will allow you to learn alongside other interested adults.

The 2015 course will highlight many aspects of birding in Michigan. The sounds of birding will be explored in lectures on “Bird Song” by Josh Haas of Glances at Nature and “Soundscape Ecology” by Sharon Gill of WMU’s Department of Biological Sciences. Birding Basics and Bird Anatomy will be covered, and “Bird Conservation in Michigan” will be explored with Chris Mensing of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Dates for the 2015 Field Ornithology Course at the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary include evening lectures from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. every other Tuesday in March, April and May. Morning field trips are from 8-11 a.m. every other Saturday in March, April and May. Participants can choose to participate in both lectures and field trips (recommended) or just lectures or field trips.
