Food service online course offered in Spanish and Mandarin

The Kent County Health Department, in collaboration with MSU Extension, will soon offer its online Food Safety Training for Food Service Workers in Spanish and Mandarin.

A grant from the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development provides for the online training and materials. The aim of the education is to eliminate critical errors in food handling and serving that can lead to food-borne illnesses.

Employers will be able to evaluate the effectiveness of online exercises for staff members who complete the course in improving food safety methods.

To date, nearly 500 participants have utilized the online instruction. With the help of this grant, the number of participants will continue to grow. For more information, visit http://msue.anr.msu.edu/.
