Community Music School presents two music therapy recitals celebrating students' abilities

The Michigan State University Community Music School is hosting two music therapy concerts to showcase the abilities of CMS music therapy students at 6 p.m. today and 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the MSU Community Music School Performance Hall. These events celebrate, through music, the abilities of children, adolescents and adults diagnosed with special needs.

The “Celebrate Abilities” music therapy recital will be held today and the “Rockin’” music therapy recital will be held Wednesday.

“’Celebrate Abilities’ and the ‘Rockin’ music therapy’ recitals are events that many individuals and their families look forward to each year,” said Cindy Edgerton, director of the MSU Community Music School's Music Therapy Clinical Services. “For many of the performers, these recitals are their only opportunities to showcase their talents in front of an audience. It¹s an incredible experience.”

The recitals are free and open to the public. Audience members are welcome to come and go throughout the concert. Donations will also be accepted to benefit CMS’s Music Therapy Clinical Services program.
