Wharton Center's 2014-15 season

Wharton Center has announced its full 2014-2015 season.

The MSU Federal Credit Union Broadway at Wharton Center Series includes: “Once,” winner of eight 2012 Tony Awardsi, including Best Musical; “Annie;” “Pippin,” winner of the 2013 Tony Award® for Best Musical; “The Phantom of the Opera;” and “Kinky Boots,” winner of six Tony Awards®, including Best Musical.

Wharton Center’s special events include Blue Man Group, best known for its wildly popular theatrical shows and concerts combining comedy, music and technology, and “I Love Lucy Live on Stage,” a brand-new hit stage show adapted from the most beloved program in television history.

The 2014-15 season also includes a lineup of world-renowned performing artists such as Arturo Sandoval and professional dancers from “Dancing with the Stars” and “So You Think You Can Dance.” Fans of NPR’s “This American Life” will love “Ira Glass: Three Acts, Two Dancers, One Radio Host,” a quirky, multi-media show combining two art forms: dance and radio.

Another NPR favorite, celebrated humorist and bestselling author David Sedaris returns for an evening of captivating conversation and social satire.

As a not-for-profit organization that is part of MSU’s Department of Outreach and Engagement, Wharton Center provides lifelong learning and engagement between the audience and the artists. This season, it continues to engage audiences with the Spotlight Dinners, Insight Previews and After Chats.

The MSU Federal Credit Union Institute for Arts and Creativity at Wharton Center includes many professional development seminars on arts education and creativity, including the Kennedy Center Partners in Education Professional Development Series; the summer Broadway Musical workshop series, Take It From The Top; the Young Playwrights Festival writing competition; Act One School and Family Series performances; on-site college classes; and other interactive programs.

Several season packages are available. To become a MSU Federal Credit Union Broadway at Wharton Center subscriber, customers must purchase all five Broadway selections.

To become a Performing Arts Series subscriber, customers must order at least five shows from the selection of theater, classical music, dance, jazz and variety and receive 30 percent off, or select at least four shows and receive a 10 percent discount.

Subscribers also save by purchasing five or more events from the Act One Family Series.

Individual tickets to most shows will go on sale at a date to be announced in early fall. Wharton Center eClub members are eligible for pre-sales before shows go on sale to the public.
