As consumers hear almost daily about data security breaches – Target, Michaels, etc. – faculty at Michigan State University will participate in the Sharper Focus/Wider Lens forum “Questioning Technology” at 7 p.m. Feb. 3 in the MSU Union Ballroom.
Faculty will explore technology standards, the risks of technology and trends from around the world.
The Sharper Focus/Wider Lens forum offers students, faculty, staff and the community the opportunity to grapple with important issues or questions in a trans-disciplinary format. The faculty panel will share its research, teaching and writing experiences from a wide range of disciplines to explore contemporary and historical issues.
Sharper Focus/Wider Lens is sponsored by the MSU Honors College. Co-sponsors of the “Questioning Technology” event are: College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, College of Arts and Letters, College of Engineering, College of Social Science, James Madison College, Lyman Briggs College, Residential College in the Arts and Humanities, Department of Philosophy and Department of Sociology.
An additional Sharper Focus/Wider Lens forum titled, “What Divides Us/What Unites Us,” will be held on April 8. This forum is part of the Project 60/50 conversation.
All lectures are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
