Register for Michigan 4-H October volunteer training workshops

Each program year, Michigan 4-H, with support from the Michigan 4-H Foundation, donors and other supporters, offers volunteer trainings at sites across Michigan. Although each workshop covers an assortment of 4-H program areas, the goal of these trainings is to provide participants with the necessary skills to become experts in their subjects.

Workshops being offered this October are:

  • Michigan 4-H Goat Science Teen and Adult Volunteer Workshop, Oct. 4-5: 4-H adult leaders and teens will participate in fun, hands-on activities, explore science-based information and enhance their knowledge of goat management. For more information, visit the 4-H Goat Leaders Workshop registration page. This event will take place at the Kettunen Center located in Tustin, Michigan.
  • Michigan 4-H Telling Your Story Workshop, Oct. 11-12: Volunteers and youth will have the opportunity to learn about constructing and sharing their 4-H story within their communities through public speaking, filmmaking, photography and social media.   • 4-H Visual Arts, Crafts, Sewing and Textiles Workshop, Oct. 18-19: 4-H staff members, adult volunteers and adults who work with a variety of youth in an educational setting will discover new visual arts ideas and learn how leadership, citizenship, entrepreneurship, science and career development can be incorporated in various projects. This event will take place at the Kettunen Center located in Tustin, Michigan.
  • 4-H Proud Equestrian Program (PEP) Instructor Update, Oct. 25-26: Current 4-H PEP instructors will receive continuing education to maintain their instructor status for 2015. Topics to be covered are therapeutic riding, working with youth with special needs, and horse management and care. This workshop is also open to Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship certified instructors, those interested in therapeutic riding and PEP instructors in training. Michigan 4-H members should use their age as of January 1 of the current program year (January 1, 2015) when selecting events to attend.
