Rappley appointed chair of AAMC Council of Deans

Marsha D. Rappley, dean of the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, has been appointed chair for the Association of American Medical Colleges, or AAMC, Council of Deans. Rappley has served as chair-elect for the council for the past two years and is a member of the AAMC Board of Directors.

Rappley has been dean for the MSU College of Human Medicine since September 2006, and is the first graduate of the college to hold the position. She is a practicing pediatrician and has achieved a national reputation for her research and clinical work in developmental and behavioral pediatrics.

She serves on the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, the accrediting body for U.S. medical schools granting M.D. degrees. She is also a member of the Advisory Panel on Research for the AAMC Council of Deans. She is past chair of the Pediatric Advisory Commission for the Food and Drug Administration and completed a term on the American Board of Pediatrics, Subspecialty Board.
