MSU professor named American Chemical Society Fellow

Michigan State University’s Robert Maleczka has been named a fellow of the American Chemical Society, the world’s largest scientific society.

The title will be given to 99 distinguished scientists who have demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in chemistry and have made important contributions to the ACS.

The 2014 fellows will be recognized at an induction ceremony during the society’s 248th national meeting next month in San Francisco.

Maleczka began his MSU career in 1995. He is currently a professor of chemistry as well as chairperson of the Department of Chemistry, a post he has held since 2010.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Illinois, Urbana, and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Ohio State University.
