Drawing from a number of individuals who are recognized for their ongoing support of Michigan State University, MSU has announced the leadership of its next capital campaign.
Co-chairpersons of President Lou Anna K. Simon’s 29-member campaign cabinet are Dolores (Dee) M. Cook (‘54, Communication Arts and Sciences), former member of the MSU Board of Trustees; and Bob Skandalaris (‘74, Business), founder and CEO of Quantum Ventures of Michigan, LLC.
Honorary members are Eli Broad (‘54, Business); Edythe Broad (’07, honorary alumna); the Broads are co-founders of The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation; Peter F. Secchia (’63, Business), former U.S. Ambassador to Italy and managing partner of SIBSCO, LLC; and Joan P. Secchia (’64, Education), community leader and volunteer.
“I am tremendously grateful for the support of these dedicated individuals who have guided our efforts to design a bold future for Michigan State University,” said Simon. “With their help, we will be successful in placing MSU on a strong and sustainable financial footing at a critical time in our history.”
MSU’s next capital campaign goal will be set and approved by the MSU Board of Trustees on Friday, followed by a public launch celebration for the entire community at the Wharton Center for Performing Arts at 5 p.m. The campaign has been in its silent phase for the past three years.
The additional members of the President’s Campaign Cabinet are:
- Craig Brown (‘73, Business), president and owner of The Greenville Drive, chairperson of Spartan Innovations
- Vicki Brown (‘75, Education), former teacher, community leader; both Browns actively raise awareness and research monies for the Hydrocephalus Association
- Byron J. Cook (‘54, Natural Science), co-founder of Cook Investments and Southwestern Oil Co.
- Peter Faricy (‘88, Business), vice president of Amazon Marketplace
- Sharon Faricy (‘88, Arts and Letters, Business), former marketing consultant
- Vincent (Vince) D. Foster (‘78, Business), chairman of the board, CEO and president of Main Street Capital Corp.
- Louise Foster, MSU supporter and friend and community leader
- Blake W. Krueger (‘75, Business, Honors College), chairman of the board, CEO and president of Wolverine Worldwide
- Mary Z. Krueger (‘77 Natural Science, ‘79 Engineering), former engineer for the State of Michigan, community leader
- Barbara Maibach (‘68, Natural Science), tutor and advocate for math literacy
- Ben Maibach III (‘69, Engineering) chairman of the board, CEO and immediate past president of Barton Malow
- Patrick (Pat) McPharlin (‘69, Social Science), president and CEO of MSU Federal Credit Union, 2005 MSUAA Distinguished Alumni Award recipient
- Edward J. Minskoff (‘62, Business), founder and president of Edward J. Minskoff Equities Inc.
- Julie Minskoff, MSU supporter and friend and art patron
- Linda Orlans (‘87, Law), founder and CEO of The Orlans Group, composed of eight real estate property firms with a national footprint, and chairperson of the MSU College of Law Board of Trustees
- Ingrid Saunders Jones (‘69, Education), chair of the National Council of Negro Women and former senior vice president of Global Community Connections, Coca-Cola Co.; and chairperson of the Coca-Cola Foundation
- Karen Kolschowsky (‘63, Education), former teacher
- Gerald Kolschowsky, MSU supporter and friend; retired, former chairman and co-chief executive officer of OSI Industries, LLC; the Kolschowskys are co-founders of the Gerald A. & Karen Kolschowsky Foundation.
- Michael Serling (‘66, History; ‘70, Law), president of Michael B. Serling P.C., 2004 MSUAA Distinguished Alumni Award and 2010 Outstanding Philanthropist Award recipient
- Elaine Serling, MSU supporter and friend, nurse and accomplished singer/songwriter
