Jianguo Liu, director for the MSU Center for Systems Integration and Sustainability, has been awarded the Ralf Yorque Memorial Competition Award for the best scientific publication of 2013. The paper, titled “Framing Sustainability in a Telecoupled World,” was published in Ecology and Society in June.
Liu’s paper focuses on telecoupling, socioeconomic and environmental interactions over distances. The work holds promise for some of the world’s greatest challenges: water sustainability, food supplies, climate change, food security and more.
The award includes a prize of 500 Euro. Liu’s work was supported by the National Science Foundation, MSU and MSU AgBioResearch.
