Future medical school students are invited to MSUCOM open houses

Prospective medical students can learn more about the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine during open house programs at two of its southeastern Michigan sites.

The “See the Sites” event is free and takes place from 9 a.m. to noon on Nov. 1 at the MSUCOM Macomb University Center and then from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Detroit Medical Center.

“See the Sites” gives potential students opportunities to meet with faculty members and tour the facilities, including classrooms, labs and study rooms with first-and-second-year medical students.

Attendees will learn about their options and the resources that are available to them during their first and second years of medical school. They can also get information about clinical rotations during their third and fourth years.

“We are connected to 23 base hospitals in southeast Michigan. This is such a huge opportunity for our classes with only 50 students to develop relationships with doctors and hospital facilitators that will be most beneficial to them in their future,” said Anne Snyder, MSUCOM admissions counselor at Macomb. “Since our classes are small, students get to know each of their fellow classmates very well.”

Whether they are studying at the Macomb, Detroit or East Lansing sites, all MSUCOM students reap the benefits of studying at a Big Ten university. All classes share the same instruction using synchronized video lectures. The college also provides options for international travel and service and access to a statewide graduate medical education system.

Business attire is required and candidates should come prepared to ask questions and collect information about both sites.

The MSUCOM Macomb University Center is located at 44575 Garfield Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038. The MSUCOM Detroit Medical Center is located 4707 St. Antoine Street, Detroit, MI 48201.

An open house at the East Lansing site will be held on Nov. 21.

No registration is required. For more information, visit www.com.msu.edu/admissions.
