The Michigan State University Community Music School invites the public to attend an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at 4930 S. Hagadorn Road in East Lansing.
Attendees may enroll in or learn about classes and lessons offered to students of all ages.
Throughout the open house there will be walk-in music therapy sessions and walk-in children and youth choir auditions. There will also be an instrument “petting” zoo, which will give those in attendance the opportunity to play a variety of instruments, and musical demonstrations.
“The Community Music School has something for everyone, and the open house is a great time to check out CMS programming,” said Jaime DeMott, director of CMS. “We offer programs for adults, teens and children with all levels of musical experience and with all levels of ability, including people with special needs. Financial aid is available for those with need.”
As the outreach division of the MSU College of Music, CMS offerings include private and group lessons; adult and children’s choirs; early childhood music; music therapy; folk music; beginning band for adults; string ensemble; and Suzuki strings and piano.
