College of Music celebrates with 'A Fairchild Fanfare'

To mark the first full concert year of the renovated Fairchild Theatre, the MSU College of Music will be hosting "A Fairchild Fanfare."

As part of the MSU Federal Credit Union Showcase Series, this fast-paced musical montage features ensembles and soloists who make Fairchild Theatre their “musical home”— choirs, jazz groups, faculty artists, chamber music groups, new music ensembles, and opera.

Slated for 8 p.m. Sept. 13, this event offers a unique presentation that promises to entertain all audiences with a variety of musical genres.

"This concert showcases the extraordinary talents of our students and faculty artists whom we are privileged to host at Fairchild Theatre," says James Forger, dean of the College of Music. "We're proud to offer such exciting and diverse programming, and we are grateful for the generosity and support of our donors, our university, and the community."

The 90-minute concert has a variety of instrumental and vocal performances. Musicians will perform a wide range of selections from classical to contemporary and musical theatre to jazz. More than 90 performers will take the stage and include a piano soloist, woodwind quintet, University Chorale, electronic and flute duo, string duo, vocal sextet and duo, and a jazz octet.

Fairchild Theatre is located in the MSU Auditorium building, 542 Auditorium Road, on the MSU Campus, East Lansing.

Tickets for A Fairchild Fanfare are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, and $10 for students with ID or those under 18 years of age, and are available at the College of Music Box Office, online at music.msu.edu, in person at 102 Music Building, 333 West Circle Drive, or call (517) 353-5340.
