CATA announces summer service changes and reductions effective May 5

CATA’s Spartan Service, which provides additional bus service during MSU’s fall and spring semesters, will conclude for the summer, effective May 5 to Aug. 24. This service break will affect MSU campus service on Routes 30-36, 39, Lot Link and Night Owl.

Additionally, service on Routes 1, 25, 26 and Entertainment Express will be reduced to reflect lower student demand on campus.

Route 1 – Downtown Lansing/Meridian Mall: Route 1 will not operate Friday or Saturday Late Night service after 11:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, the last bus departs Meridian Mall at 10:55 p.m. en route to the CATA Transportation Center. Weekday buses will continue to depart every ten to 15 minutes throughout the day and early evening; every 20 minutes later in the evening. Some Saturday departures will vary by up to five minutes. Sunday service is not impacted.

Routes 20 – 23: Routes 20, 22 and 23 will travel into the MSU-CATA Transportation Center across from Shaw Hall to give customers convenient access to the facility’s amenities. These routes will continue to serve the boarding area at the corner of Shaw Lane and Farm Lane.

Route 25– North Harrison: Route 25 weekday buses will operate every 60 minutes during the day (rather than every 30 minutes). Evening and weekend service will remain the same. Route 25 will continue to travel to MSU’s Ramp 5 on Red Cedar Road, along with Route 24 – East Lansing/East Lake Lansing Road.

Route 26 – Abbot/Chandler: Route 26 weekday buses will operate every 45 minutes (rather than every 6 – 10 minutes) and conclude service at 7:20 p.m. at the MSU-CATA Transportation Center. There will be no Thursday, Friday or Saturday late-night service to downtown East Lansing. Saturday service will end at 7:15 p.m. at the MSU-CTC. Sunday service will not be impacted.

Entertainment Express: One trolley will travel the corridor serving designated stops every 30 minutes from 7:30 p.m. – 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

MSU Routes 30 – 36, 39, Lot Link and Night Owl: These services will not operate on campus during the summer break.

Spartan Service will resume Aug. 25with buses returning to MSU’s campus and added service on Routes 1, 25, 26 and the Entertainment Express.
