Consensus All-American cornerback Darqueze Dennard, who became the first Spartan to win the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's best defensive back, has been selected Most Valuable Player (Governor's Award recipient) by his teammates at the annual Spartan Football Awards Banquet held April 27 before a crowd in excess of 800 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center.
