10 outstanding MSU seniors named to 2014-15 Homecoming Court

Michigan State University has named 10 outstanding senior ambassadors to its 2014-15 Homecoming Court.

Ambassadors, who were endorsed by an individual or an organization, were chosen through a highly selective process. The students were evaluated based on his or her leadership, community involvement, academic excellence and Spartan pride.

A group of MSU faculty, staff, alumni and students conducted personal interviews with students to select the final 10 court ambassadors.

"The students highlighted as this year's Homecoming Court embody every inch and angle of what it means to be a Spartan," said Homecoming Court adviser Mathias Koller. "I am beyond proud of these students and look forward to all the big things they have in store for us as they continue through the rest of their college careers and into the professional world."

The students will begin their duties as ambassadors this summer, as they will represent the MSU student body at various alumni, community and university engagements. They will continue their commitment through the 2014-15 school year. During homecoming week, Sept. 22-27, ambassadors will attend many functions, including the parade on Sept. 26 and the football game on Sept. 27.

"It is both an honor and a privilege to be named as a member of the 2014-15 Michigan State University Homecoming Court,” said Clark Vredevoogd, 2014-15 Homecoming Court ambassador. “Being recognized by MSU as a member of such a select group of incredible individuals is very humbling. After receiving so much from this university, it is with great excitement that I take another step forward in my ability to give back.

“I look forward to representing this university over the next year and the opportunity to meet current students, alumni and individuals who may be considering MSU in the future.”
