Students recognized with 2013 Board of Trustees' Awards

At the April 12 Board of Trustees meeting, 23 students were recognized with Board of Trustees’ Awards for having the highest scholastic average at the close of his or her last semester in attendance at Michigan State University.

They all received a 4.0 GPA.

The students also will be recognized at their spring commencements May 3-5.

Following is the list of awardees.

Laura Bridges, of Livonia, is the daughter of Jerry and Gayle Bridges. A member of the Honors College, Bridges is a nutritional sciences major in Lyman Briggs College. She is a graduate of Mercy High School in Farmington Hills.

Meghan Clark, of Herndon, Va., is the daughter of Jeffrey Clark and Lynda Warren. A member of the Honors College, Clark is double majoring in hospitality business in the Broad College of Business and French in the College of Arts and Letters. She is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Va.

Emily Finnan, of Dearborn, is the daughter of Jeffrey and Mary Finnan. She is a dietetics major in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Finnan is a graduate of Dearborn High School.

Thomas Gartner, of Midland, is the son of Charles and Sherri Gartner. A member of the Honors College, Gartner is an applied engineering sciences major in the College of Engineering. He is a graduate of Midland High School.

Zach Gaudette, of Grosse Ile, is the son of Roger and Tracey Gaudette. A member of the Honors College, Gaudette is a nutritional sciences major in Lyman Briggs College. He is a graduate of Grosse Ile High School.

Justin Gwizdala, of Bay City, is the son of Gary and Lori Gwizdala. He is an accounting major in the Broad College of Business. Gwizdala is a graduate of Bay City Western High School.

Mark Holzhauer, of Midland, is the son of Carl and Kim Holzhauer. A member of the Honors College, Holzhauer is an electrical engineering major in the College of Engineering. He is a graduate of Midland High School.

Jordan Hughes, of Madison, Wisc., is the son of Barbara Hughes and the late Joe Young, Jr. A member of the Honors College, Hughes is a public policy major in the College of Social Science. He is a graduate of West High School in Madison, Wisc.

Chelsea Kneip, of Lake Orion, is the daughter of Richard Kneip of Lake Orion and Janet Barnard of Charlotte, N.C. A member of the Honors College, Kneip is a psychology major in the College of Social Science. She is a graduate of Lake Orion High School.

Kasey Kovack, of Oakland, is the daughter of Dayne and Kathy Kovack. A member of the Honors College, Kovack is double majoring in human resource management in the Broad College of Business and psychology in the College of Social Science. She is a graduate of Stoney Creek High School in Rochester.

Andrew League, of Canton, is the son of Mark and Laura League. A member of the Honors College, League is an education major in the College of Education. He is a graduate of Plymouth-Canton High School.

Lauren Manston, of Rochester Hills, is the daughter of Janice and James Manston. A member of the Honors College, Manston is a psychology major in the College of Social Science. She is a graduate of Rochester High School.

Thomas McAlvey, of Lansing, is the son of Christina McAlvey and the late Robert McAlvey and is married to Heather Rae McAlvey. He is a horticulture major in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. McAlvey is a graduate of Lansing Christian High School

Erin O'Connor, of Novi, is the daughter of Thomas and Rosita O'Connor. A member of the Honors College, O'Connor is a psychology major in the College of Social Science. She is a graduate of Novi High School.

Ryan Ohle, of Midland, is the son of Rick and Nancy Ohle. He is a marketing major in the Broad College of Business. Ohle is a graduate of Midland High School.

Nathaniel Pasmanter, of Minneapolis, is the son of Denise Pasmanter and Robin Brown. A member of the Honors College, Pasmanter is a mathematics major in the College of Natural Science. He is a graduate of Southwest High School in Minneapolis.

Amber Peruski, of Auburn, is the daughter of David and Sandra Peruski, A member of the Honors College, Peruski is a human biology major in the College of Natural Science. She is a graduate of Valley Lutheran High School in Saginaw.

Allegra Smith, of South Lyon, is the daughter of Beth Woodward and Bryan Smith. A member of the Honors College, Smith is double majoring in professional writing and women’s and gender studies, both in the College of Arts and Letters. She is a graduate of South Lyon High School.

Ariel Vida, of Twin Lake, is the daughter of Annette and John Vida. A member of the Honors College, Vida is an arts and humanities major in the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities. She is a graduate of Reeths-Puffer High School in Muskegon.

Brandon Waterloo, of Jenison, is the son of Thomas and Teresa Waterloo. A member of the Honors College, Waterloo is a computer science major in the College of Engineering. He is a graduate of Jenison High School.

Rebecca Zantjer, of Delton, is the daughter of Eugene and Clarene Zantjer. A member of the Honors College, Zantjer is an arts and humanities major in the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities. She is a graduate of Delton Kellogg High School.

Casandra Zeni, of Livonia, is the daughter of Robert and Cathy Zeni. She is a kinesiology major in the College of Education. Zeni is a graduate of Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Livonia.

Yang Zhang, of Shanghai, is the son of Xingyun Shao and Tianxiang Zhang. He is a genomics and molecular genetics major in the College of Natural Science. Zhang is a graduate of No. 2 High School Affiliated to East China Normal University.
