MSU Press has recently won two 2013 Independent Publisher Book Awards for the titles, "Room 306: The National Story of the Lorraine Motel," by Ben Kamin; Silver Award; Category: Multicultural Non-fiction Adult and for "Bleeder: A Memoir," by Shelby Smoak; Gold Award; Category: Autobiography/Memoir II (Personal Struggle/Health Issues).
About 2,500 independent authors and publishers participated in the 2013 Independent Publisher Book Awards contest and 382 were awarded medals.
The awards ceremony to honor the medalists will take place May 29 in New York, on the eve of the BookExpo America convention.
All IPPY Award medalists will receive a medal, a certificate and 20 awards seals.
