KBS honors former director, marks 50 years of aquatic ecology research

The W.K. Kellogg Biological Station celebrated 50 years of aquatic ecology research on Oct. 18. George Lauff, director of KBS from 1964 to 1989, was honored during the celebration in front of more than 100 current and former faculty members, students and staff.

Lauff was recognized for leading the growth of KBS into an internationally recognized center for ecological research. He was the station’s first year-round resident director after the College of Natural Science was created in 1962.

Lauff donated his home to MSU to fund KBS student scholarships.
