Darqueze Dennard wins Jim Thorpe Award

Michigan State senior cornerback Darqueze Dennard was named the winner of the 2013 Jim Thorpe Award Thursday night, as announced on the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN from the Atlantic Dance Hall on Disney's BoardWalk. Dennard is the first Spartan to win the award, which has been awarded annually since 1986 to the nation's best defensive back. Read more at msuspartans.com

Richard Lunt, assistant professor in MSU's College of Engineering, is the recipient of the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Award in Environmental Chemistry. The highly competitive $120,000 grant adds a postdoctoral researcher to Lunt’s research team for two years.
