Creating Spartan super heroes for Homecoming 2013

From Oct. 7 to Oct. 12, Michigan State University is celebrating the life-changing impact Spartans have all over the world with the Homecoming 2013 theme "Creating Spartan Super Heroes.”

In keeping with this year’s theme, MSU created its own league of five Spartan super heroes. With Sparty as the leader of the group, each super hero has his or her own superpowers that reflect the various principles and overall mission of MSU. Meet the heroes here.

The 2013 Grand Marshal Geoff Johns knows a thing or two about super heroes. Johns, class of '95, is the chief creative officer of DC Entertainment and a superstar in the comic book industry. He wrote Justice League #1 and has been writing for characters such as Green Lantern, The Flash and Superman. He also has written episodes of TV's “Smallville” and he coproduced the movie “Green Lantern.” Learn more about Johns here.

Once again, the "Glow Green" tradition will take place, which calls for all Spartans to switch out their porch or house lights to green ones during homecoming week.

Homecoming 2013 week features many events for the MSU community to attend. Following is a list of some homecoming events. For a complete list, including alumni tailgate locations, go here. Times and dates are subject to change and/or cancellation.
