41st annual Noel Night takes place Dec. 7 at MSU Detroit Center

Travel to Midtown's south end to enjoy a wide variety of performing arts, a scavenger hunt, food and a visit from Santa Dec. 7 at the Michigan State University Detroit Center.

Enjoy free parking at the MSU lot and the streets adjacent to the MSU Center.

Garage area

6-7 p.m.
Cass Tech Dance Workshop - Nationally recognized and ranked No. 1 Detroit Public School dance ensemble performs acclaimed works.

6-9 p.m.
Enterprise Services - Office of School Nutrition - Hot and cold snacks with beverages ($5 food ticket).

7-8 p.m.
MSU Community Music School—Detroit New Horizons Concert Band - Playing holiday favorites with special guest Santa Claus.

8-9 p.m.
COMPÁS Mariachi Band - Youth vocalists and instrumentalists celebrating the rich and traditional Mexican music while incorporating the music of other Latin American countries.

9-10 p.m.
Omowale African Drummers and Dance Ensemble-An exciting presentation of West African drumming and dancing that also teaches and demonstrates significant historical and cultural forms with audience participation.

Steinway Gallery of Detroit - Piano Sale and Exhibit Showroom.

This gallery will offer pianos from majestic concert grand pianos to traditional uprights. Steinway’s sales personnel will ensure that each buyer will find the right instrument for every budget and price point. The MSU Community Music School-Detroit is very pleased to welcome the Steinway Piano Gallery to our Detroit location for Noel Night. $

6-7 p.m.
Ben's Friends Jazz Ensemble - Detroit’s very own popular 21-piece jazz orchestra. The highlight of this very colorful and engaging ensemble is their ability to perform compositions in the tradition of renowned artisans such as Ellington, Coltrane, Goodman and Holiday. This is a class act organization appreciated by many in the Metropolitan Detroit Community.

7 p.m.
VISION – An award winning male vocal ensemble from the Detroit Academy of Arts. These young men electrify audiences with tight harmonies and high energy choreography. Their voices have led to numerous prestigious performances in Metro Detroit and various national venues.

9 p.m.
MSU Community Music School—Detroit New Horizons Jazz Band - Playing holiday favorites with a jazz twist.

Meet and greet with Santa Claus - a youth holiday favorite.

Detroit Association of Black Storytellers - This association promotes and perpetuates the ancient art of African storytelling and the tradition of Black storytelling, using the knowledge and wisdom contributed from folklore and ancestral stories...these stories are primarily for adults, but children will enjoy them as well!

William Tyus - Caricature Artist – William Tyus is a former instructor of the fine arts from Cass Tech High School who will artistically create a personalized rendering, in your choice of black & white or color, of you and ‘yours’ in a simplified and/or exaggerated manner. $

Second floor hallway

6-11 p.m.
Metro-Detroit Jewish Federation, MSU Residential College in The Arts and Humanities / Ecumenical Theological Seminary, and the Arab American National Museum – Exhibits and displays reflecting religious perspectives of Judaism, Christianity and Islam during this holiday season. There will be various hands-on demonstrations such as Arabic coffee-making and traditional dance performances, plus much more.

  • Second floor rear: 7-9:30 p.m. MSU—Detroit Campus College of Osteopathic Medicine— Experience the marvels of osteopathic medicine in a most relaxing manner! DO students shall palpate and utilize manipulative techniques to promote the enhancement of your health.

Strolling

7-9 p.m.
MSU Community Music School—Detroit Gospel Choir will be strolling throughout the evening with ‘joy & praise’. This musical organization is a representation of the Metropolitan Detroit community which has a ranging repertoire of African American spirituals, hymns, and contemporary Gospel music.
