Staff profiles: Amanda Scharnweber

Amanda Scharnweber said she loves her job because of the interaction and ability to help students.

As a student activities assistant in the Department of Student Life, Scharnweber works with student organizations on campus. She helps them get registered with the university and set up their financial account. Also during Fall Welcome, she helps the registered student organizations come together for Sparticipation at Munn Field.

"It's really a great event," Scharnweber said of Sparticipation, which showcases many of MSU's more than 550 student organizations.

Scharnweber's tasks vary from day to day. She helps with event planning and acts as a liaison between students and financial resources or facilities. She has been with the Department of Student life for about 8 years.

"It's a busy job," she said. "But I love it."

Scharnweber said working with the students is the best part of her day. Oftentimes, they come into her office stressed and frustrated, but she enjoys being able to assist them in finding a solution.

"It's great to see them leave happy and satisfied," she said.
