Sports performance experts offer clinics for young athletes

The Spartan Nutrition and Performance Program is offering a series of weekly training and nutrition clinics that focus on speed development, quickness, reaction time, agility, balance, coordination, conditioning and nutrition – all essential aspects of athletic performance.

The clinics will be held on Sundays from 6 to 7 p.m. Nov. 11-Dec. 16 in IM Sports Circle at Michigan State University. They are open to young athletes aged 10 to 18. The cost is $25 for one session, $60 for three sessions and $99 for all six sessions.

The sessions were designed by university experts in sports nutrition and pediatric exercise physiology, and will be supervised by professional staff from SNAPP, a division of the MSU Radiology Department. In addition, sports nutrition experts from SNAPP who work with Spartan Athletics will speak with parents about proper nutrition for young athletes and their families and provide educational handouts.

Registration for the clinics is required. To register or for more information, visit http://sportsnutrition.msu.edu/pages/clinics.html or call (517) 884-6133.
