Largest group of 4.0 students receive Board of Trustees' Awards

EAST LANSING, Mich. —  At the April 13 Board of Trustees meeting, 37 students – the most in recent history – received Board of Trustees' Awards for having the highest scholastic average at the close of his or her last semester of attendance at Michigan State University.

They all received a 4.0 GPA.

The students also will be recognized at their spring commencements May 4-6.

Following is the list of awardees:

Dustin Baker, of Saint Louis, Mich., is the son of Jim and Lori Baker.  A member of the Honors College, Baker is an agribusiness management major in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. He is a graduate of Saint Louis High School.

Leah Bridle, of Houston, is the daughter of Samuel Bridle and the late Patricia Bridle. A member of the Honors College, Bridle is double majoring in interdisciplinary studies in social science-international studies and anthropology, both in the College of Social Science. She is a graduate of Wheaton North High School in Wheaton, Ill.

Claire Carpenter, of Brighton, is the daughter of Jan and Rob Carpenter. A member of the Honors College, Carpenter is a communicative sciences and disorders major in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences. She is a graduate of Brighton High School.

Megan Climans, of Macomb, is the daughter of Charisse Oparka and Jeffrey Oparka and Steve Climans and Laura Malcolm. A member of the Honors College, Climans is a zoology major in Lyman Briggs College. She is a graduate of Lutheran High School North.

Bethany Davis, of Mason, is the daughter of Tom and Charmayne Davis. A member of the Honors College, Davis is a journalism major in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences. She is a graduate of Mason High School.

Thomas Degroote, of St. Louis, is the son of Joan and Steven Degroote. A member of the Honors College, Degroote is double majoring in supply chain management in the Broad College of Business and economics in the College of Social Science. He is a graduate of Parkway North High School.

Ryan Duffy, of Macomb, is the son of Glenn and Karen Duffy. A member of the Honors College, Duffy is double majoring in psychology in the College of Social Science and math in the College of Natural Science. He is a graduate of Henry Ford II High School.

Matthew Durak, of Canton, is the son of Tom and Lisa Durak. A member of the Honors College, Durak is a computer engineering major in the College of Engineering. He is a graduate of Plymouth High School.

Amanda Egert, of Bellaire, is the daughter of David and Kay Egert of Elmore, Ohio. Egert is an animal science major in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. She is a graduate of Bellaire Public High School.

Michael Erlingis, of Westland, is the son of Janice and Stanley Erlingis. A member of the Honors College, Erlingis is a hospitality business major in the Broad College of Business. He is a graduate of Detroit Catholic Central High School.

John Matthew Franklin, of Canton, is the son of Chris and Maria Franklin. A member of the Honors College, Franklin is a chemical engineering major in the College of Engineering. He is a graduate of Plymouth High School.

Chaun Gandolfo, of Brighton, is the son of Angele and Frank Gandolfo. A member of the Honors College, Gandolfo is double majoring in physiology and human biology, both in Lyman Briggs College. He is a graduate of Brighton High School.

Elizabeth Gutowski, of Novi, is the daughter of Ronald and Connie Gutowski. A member of the Honors College, Gutowski is an education major in the College of Education. She is a graduate of Novi High School.

Robert Hasselbeck, of Millington, is the son of James and Theresa Hasselbeck. A member of the Honors College, Hasselbeck is a chemical engineering major in the College of Engineering. He is a graduate of Millington High School.

Negar Hosseinifar, of Tehran, Iran, is the daughter of Efat Yazdandoost and Mohammad Hosseinifar. She is a human biology major in the College of Natural Science. Hosseinifar is a graduate of Tehran International School.

Brice Jastrow, of Saline, is the son of Therese and Frederick Jastrow. He is a political science major in the College of Social Science. Jastrow is a graduate of Saline High School.

Katie Kanitz, of St. John's, is the daughter of Stuart Kanitz of St. Johns and Kathy Kanitz of Howell. Kanitz is an agribusiness management major in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.  She is a graduate of Fulton High School.

Jordan Kornack, of Sterling Heights, is the daughter of Karl and Vicki Kornack. A member of the Honors College, Kornack is an accounting major in the Broad College of Business. She is a graduate of Henry Ford II High School.

Margaret LaLonde, of Bucksport, Maine, is the daughter of John Paul and Milissa LaLonde. A member of the Honors College, LaLonde is double majoring in psychology and interdisciplinary studies in social science-human resources and society, both in the College of Social Science. She is a graduate of Bucksport High School.

Eric LaNoue, of Grand Haven, is the son of Tom and Sharon LaNoue. A member of the Honors College, LaNoue is a music education major in the College of Music. He is a graduate of Grand Haven Senior High School.

Andrew Mach, of Williamsburg, is the son of Kathy and Dan Mach. A member of the Honors College, Mach is a political theory and constitutional democracy major in James Madison College. He is a graduate of Elk Rapids High School.

Jonathan Massie, of Wixom, is the son of Paul and Cathy Massie. A member of the Honors College, Massie is a biochemistry and molecular biology major in Lyman Briggs College. He is a graduate of Walled Lake Western High School.

Allison Melkonian, of White Lake, is the daughter of Doug and Denise Melkonian. A member of the Honors College, Melkonian is a human biology major in Lyman Briggs College. She is a graduate of Waterford Kettering High School.

Julie Mianecki, of Rochester Hills, is the daughter of Michael and Therese Mianecki. A member of the Honors College, Mianecki is double majoring in journalism in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences and Spanish in the College of Arts and Letters. She is a graduate of Rochester High School.

Darcey Noska, of Birmingham, is the daughter of Andy and Donna Noska of Encinitas, Calif. She is majoring in special education-learning disabilities in the College of Education. Noska is a graduate of Seaholm High School.

Anna Orsini, of Okemos, is the daughter of Leo and Caroline Orsini. A member of the Honors College, Orsini is double majoring in arts and humanities in the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities and English in the College of Arts and Letters. Orsini is a graduate of Okemos High School.

Devan Sayles, of Livonia, is the daughter of Patrick and Michelle Sayles. A member of the Honors College, Sayles is double majoring in computer science in the College of Engineering and media and communication technology in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences. She is a graduate of Winston Churchill High School.

Alexandra Siciliano, of Dearborn, is the daughter of Joseph and Lynn Siciliano. A member of the Honors College, Siciliano is a packaging major in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. She is a graduate of Dearborn High School.

Christopher Sigler, of Utica, is the son of Judy and David Sigler. A member of the Honors College, Sigler is a computer engineering major in the College of Engineering. He is a graduate of Utica High School.

James Smith, of Grand Blanc, is the son of Tom Smith of Grand Blanc and Sue Smith of Flint. A member of the Honors College, Smith is an international relations major in James Madison College. He is a graduate of The Roeper School. 

C. Ross Stavoe, of Bloomfield Hills, is the son of Laurene Horiszny and Richard Stavoe Jr. A member of the Honors College, Stavoe is double majoring in supply chain management in the Broad College of Business and psychology in the College of Social Science. He is a graduate of Lahser High School.

Kaelyn Stevick, of Midland, is the daughter of Margaret Stevick of Midland and Kenan Stevick of Grand Blanc. Stevick is a human biology major in the College of Natural Science. She is a graduate of Herbert Henry Dow High School.

Katie Trumbley, of St. Joseph, is the daughter of Scott and Janet Trumbley. A member of the Honors College, Trumbley is a human biology major in the College of Natural Science. She is a graduate of St. Joseph High School.

Erika Vivyan, of Farmington Hills, is the daughter of Mark and Jane Vivyan. A member of the Honors College, Vivyan is double majoring in arts and humanities in the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities and psychology in the College of Social Science. She is a graduate of Harrison High School.

Natalie Walicki, of Hartland, is the daughter of Russell and Julie Walicki. A member of the Honors College, Walicki is an arts and humanities major in the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities. She is a graduate of Hartland High School.

Thomas Wilkins, of Grosse Pointe, is the son of Ann and Paul Wilkins. A member of the Honors College, Wilkins is a biology major in Lyman Briggs College. He is a graduate of Grosse Pointe South High School.

Nicholas Wilson, of Cincinnati, is the son of Bradley and Frances Wilson. A member of the Honors College, Wilson is a mechanical engineering major in the College of Engineering. He is a graduate of Madeira High School.
