Staff profiles: Adam Lawver

Adam Lawver’s job changes every day, and especially every season.

Lawver is a landscape construction manager with the Physical Plant in the Landscape Services Department. He graduated from Michigan State University in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, and was immediately hired into a fulltime position in Landscape Services.

“Just the thought of being part of a team that maintains and improves such a beautiful campus was a neat thought to me,” Lawver said.

Throughout the year, Lawver leads a team of employees who is responsible for the procurement, installation and maintenance of landscapes on campus. He also manages contractors who perform different services around campus. These services range from sidewalk and parking lot repairs to campus building and directional signage.

“What’s awesome about my job and the landscaping industry is that it changes by the season,” Lawver said.

Landscape management is certainly affected by the weather, and right now Lawver is in full tilt snow removal. He helps to coordinate the MSU snow plan as an on-call supervisor.
