Staff profiles: Glen Brough

Glen Brough is the visual coordinator for the Spartan Marching Band and the assistant director of admissions at Michigan State University.

A true Spartan, Brough views the Spartan Marching Band as more than just a job – he considers it an opportunity to continue to teach as he was once formally an elementary school teacher.

Brough has been the visual coordinator for the Spartan Marching Band for 23 years, and is respected, loved and occasionally feared by its members. He teaches marching techniques, helps clean up “drill” on the field and is responsible for all of the visual aspects of the ensemble.

As a member of the SMB while he attended MSU, Brough was a Big Ten Flag his freshman year and drum major for four years after that.

Brough describes the Spartan Marching Band is something that “is really central in [his] life,” and that he “can’t imagine working here without being involved in the Spartan Band.”
