EAST LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan State University Kellogg Bird Sanctuary will host two night walks in search of owls from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 7 and Jan. 11.

An indoor introduction will be followed by an outdoor walk, which will be led by experienced guides who will call for owls along the way. Participants will learn about 10 owl species found in Michigan, including the three most common to southwest Michigan. Guests also will learn where to find owls, what they eat and how to recognize their calls.

All ages that will enjoy walking quietly at night are welcome. Participants are asked to dress appropriately for the weather, and boots are recommended.

Cost for sanctuary members is $3 for adults and $1 for children (ages 2 to 12). The cost for nonmembers is $5 for adults and $3 for children.

The sanctuary is located in Augusta at 12685 East C Avenue, one mile north of M-89 and just west of 40th Street.

The Kellogg Bird Sanctuary is open to visitors year round. For more information, call (269) 671-2510 or e-mail birdsanctuary@kbs.msu.edu.
