Staff profiles: Marian Reiter

Since 1975, Marian Reiter has worked on campus as a graphic artist for MSU Extension and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

“When I started out, it was all hand work,” she said, contrasting the past to the now-standard computerized design. “We did paste-up; we did everything mechanically.

“But, the actual principles of design really haven’t changed.”

With all the designs that Reiter has produced during her career, she finds her finished pieces in interesting places.

“I was on a bus in Monticello in Virginia when I opened up a brochure and saw one of my illustrations.  I went, ‘Oh my goodness how did this get here?’” she said. “You never know where your pieces are going to end up.”
