Prof’s technology among ‘Popular Science’ innovations promising to help feed world, cut emissions

The work of C.A. Reddy, a professor of microbiology and molecular genetics, won mention in an article in the August issue of Popular Science. In “The Future of Farming: Eight Solutions For a Hungry World” by writer Hilary Rosner, Reddy contributes idea number four from his research with soil microbes that pull nitrogen from the air. The technology, now commercialized as a liquid soil additive called Bio-Soil Enhancers, could allow growers to slash their use of chemical fertilizers that contribute to global greenhouse-gas emissions.

For more information on Reddy’s work and Bio-Soil Enhancers, see the news release published Dec. 17, 2008.
