Women in the Executive Suite topic of third annual Neal Shine Lecture at MSU

The third annual Neal Shine Lecture at Michigan State University will feature six women who shattered the glass ceiling and changed the culture at news organizations around the country.

�Women in the Media Executive Suite: Have They Changed Boardroom and Newsroom Behavior?� is the title of the forum to be held Wednesday, April 14, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Kellogg Center Auditorium on the MSU campus.

The panel will feature:

  • Karen Brown Dunlap, president of the Poynter Institute for Media Studies
  • Marcia Gauger, former Time Magazine bureau chief
  • Renee Hampton, publisher of The Saginaw News
  • Carole Leigh Hutton, publisher of the Detroit Free Press
  • Mary Ann Weston, associate professor of journalism at Northwestern�s Medill School of Journalism and former Detroit Free Press staff writer

The panel will be moderated by Sue Carter, MSU Journalism School professor and former radio and television reporter. Carter is executive assistant to MSU President Peter McPherson and secretary to the MSU Board of Trustees.

The panel is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the discussion.

The panel is sponsored by MSU�s School of Journalism and College of Communication Arts and Sciences, The State News and the Michigan Press Association.
