East Lansing, Mich. � The Michigan State University Board of Trustees today approved new housing rates for 2004-05, which officials said are among the lowest in the state.
The board also approved a restructuring plan that establishes a School of Planning, Design and Construction in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, effective July 1.
Under the new plan, the Construction Management, Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design and Facilities Management programs will be merged into the School of Planning, Design and Construction.
The new unit will be jointly administered between the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the College of Social Science.
Board members also approved a 4.4 percent increase in the basic residence halls room and board rate to $5,458 per academic year, effective fall 2004.
In addition, the basic university apartment rates will see a 3 percent increase to $552 per month for a one-bedroom apartment and $612 per month for a two-bedroom apartment, effective Aug. 1.
