Veronica Mary Maher, University Distinguished Professor, died April 13. Maher was a professor emeritus of microbiology, molecular genetics and biochemistry and molecular biology, former associate dean for graduate studies and director of the Ph.D. program with the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her dissertation research led to the present understanding of how chemical carcinogens and radiation cause cancer. Maher also co-owned two patents, one for producing DNA from mRNA and another for targeted cancer therapies and therapeutics. Maher joined the faculty in 1976 and retired in 2010.
Charles Krulik, building sanitation worker, died April 18. Krulik joined the staff in 1977.
Maragret Mielock, home economist for MSU Extension, died April 15. Mielock joined the staff in 1975 and retired in 1995.
Harold Spaeth, professor emeritus in the College of Social Science, died April 8. Spaeth joined the staff in 1963 and retired in 1997.
Alfred Allan Schmid, professor in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, died April 5. Schmid joined the staff in 1959 and retired in 2006.
John Suehr, professor emeritus in the College of Education, died April 4. Suehr joined the staff in 1963 and retired in 1991.
Jeanne Aultz, senior contract and grant administrator, died March 31. Aultz joined the staff in 1969 and retired in 2000.
Donald Schaible, electrician for the electrical maintenance department, died March 25. Schaible joined the staff in 1962 and retired in 1990.
Anna Norris, associate professor of romance and classical studies, died March 18. Norris joined the staff in 1999.
Marjorie Perry, building service worker, died March 25. Perry joined the staff in 1976 and retired in 1991.
